G-50 PICK-AND PLACE ROBOT TO BE ON DISPLAY AT METALFORM LOUISVILLE

Erlanger, Ky. — Oriimec Corporation of America will feature the efficient and compact G-50 Pick-and-Place Robot in their booth at the MetalForm Louisville show, March 30-April 1, 2004. Designed to replace hand-feeding of presses, this reliable machine simulates the motion of lifting a workpiece from a stack of blanks and placing it accurately in a die. The robot can feed the press at a rate of 15 times a minute and can handle blanks weighing up to 3.3 lbs. and measuring up to 8" x 12."

Vacuum cups or electromagnets lift the top blank from the vertical magazine and feed it into the press. The arm lowers and releases the blank onto the die, lifts itself clear and retracts from the press, initiating the press stroke.

The G-50 is mounted on wheels permitting fast tool changing and allowing it to be rolled across the shop floor or carried by lift truck from press to press. Two quick-release, single-action toggle clamps rigidly secure the unit to the front of the press in seconds, making even short batch runs cost effective.

G-50 Series robots are adaptable to virtually any small tonnage press, and can accommodate a wide range of die heights. A jack-type adjustment or an optional motorized pass line adjustment can raise or lower the G-50 up to four inches (100 mm) from its base configuration.

An exclusive double rod air cylinder and extra long guides prevent the workpiece from twisting or turning during forward extension into the die set, and provide smooth operation and long, service-free life. Sensors within the hand assembly verify that the blank is held correctly. Detection of a mishandled blank will immediately shut down the system.

A preset counter, magnet holders and a warning light are available as optional features. To enhance press automation, the system can be upgraded to include unloaders and palletizers.
